Winner of the Chevy HHR Announced!
BAKERSFIELD, CA, August 31, 2006

At 12:15 PM today, in a packed  Brigade Board room, the Bakersfield Brigade Youth Soccer Club announced the winner of the drawing for the 2006 Chevy HHR.  Steve Kieke, President, pulled the winning ticket!  The winner was Tom Roddy of Bakersfield!  “Thank you and good luck to the Bakersfield Brigade Youth Soccer Club,” stated Roddy.   The ticket was purchased from our youth team Brigade Red 94, a U12 boy’s team.

The proceeds from the raffle are being used to build a youth soccer facility for the 18 teams that participate in our club.  The Bakersfield Brigade Youth Soccer Club is a competitive organization that includes 18 boys and girls teams ages Under 11 through Under 19 years old. The teams will begin their 2006 seasons in September, while competing in the Coast Soccer League, the Golden Empire Soccer League, and the Bakersfield Girl’s Soccer League.

Benny and the Brigade Youth Deliver Toys to Kids!
BAKERSFIELD, CA, December 19th, 2006

In a search to bring the holiday spirit to those in need, the Bakersfield Brigade Red 95 Girls U11 team and the Red 94 Boys U12 team partnered with the Bakersfield Rescue Mission to provide toys to the kids at Height Street Baptist Church !  The rescue mission had not had time for their annual toy drive this year and it was up to us to rescue them this time!  The afternoon was a huge success!  The two teams collected over 70 toys to distribute to about 50 kids.  The extra toys are being used as prizes by the Rescue Mission Kids Club in their upcoming weekly events.

The afternoon consisted of Benny, the Bakersfield Brigade mascot, about 20 Brigade youth players and neighborhood kids learning the history of the candy cane, playing in a Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer Relay and passing the stuffed animal from left to right as a holiday story was read.  After the games, the kids from Heights Street Baptist Church had a feast of pizza and received their toy!  The afternoon definitely reflected the joy of the holiday for all involved!
