46 Players Attend College Premier Teams’ Tryouts
BAKERSFIELD, CA, May 24, 2006
The Bakersfield Brigade Youth Soccer Club (www.bbysc.com), announced today that their first day of the College Premier Teams’ tryouts was extremely successful.  The College Premier Teams program, which is focused on preparing the most talented Under-18 and Under-17 boys for the college level, witnessed 46 young players tryout for the two teams on Tuesday night.

“We are extremely pleased with the turn-out we had tonight,” stated BBYSC Director of Coaching, Greg Knittel.  “There is so much talent at these two age groups.  The toughest part will be selecting the 18 players for each of these squads,” added Knittel.  The tryouts will continue on May 24 and 25 at 6:30 pm at Liberty Park (corner of Brimhall and Jewetta).

“There is no question that these two teams will be able to compete at the state level,” stated BBYSC Technical Director, Joe Montoya.  “Our goal is to prepare these talented athletes to compete at the national club level, and the collegiate level,” added Montoya.  Both these teams are coming off Coast Soccer League championships, along with various other tournament championships in 2005. Next year’s Under-17 Brigade only lost by a score of 1-0 to the eventual Cal-South National State Cup Champions, Rampage FC, in the State Cup tournament that took place in April.
