Bakersfield, Calif., April 21, 2005 – After waiting over an hour for Fresno Fuego to make it to Bakersfield, the Brigade gave a worth while performance for the crowd of nearly 400 people. “I was extremely pleased with the amount of Brigade fans who not only showed patience while waiting for the opposing team to show up, but provided an enormous boost to our team by showing their support and cheering them on throughout the game” said General Manager Joe Jimenez. The brigade hadn’t expected such a large crowd for their first home game, being that it was pre-season and wasn’t really advertised in the media, but they were delighted with the turnout. “Last night’s attendance was a confirmation to our organization on the amount of fans we can expect to each of our home games throughout the season. My suggestion to those who have not already purchased season tickets is to do so now, and to show up early at the games for a good seat!”
On a needle thread pass by Juan Camacho to a streaking Johnny Carson, Brigade took a 1-0 lead. “I was going to play the ball short but I saw Johnny making his run on the right side” said Camacho. Johnny took the ball pass the defender placing the shot on the right post for the first goal. “I didn’t get a goal and an assist but I got the goal” said Carson rewferring to his per game goal of one assist and one goal. Carson is a local player that played at East High before being recruited by UCLA. While at UCLA Carson was a member of the 2002 National Championship team. “I felt we played much better than Friday nights tie against Fuego.” said Gore. “If we continue playing like we played tonight, it will be a good season for us. We have a tough test when Atlas comes in a couple weeks” said Gore. The second goal was a ball played up the middle by Jason Ashhurst to Fabian Sandoval. Beating the sweeper Fabian struck a missile past the Fuego keeper. “It feels good to get a goal in front of the home crowd.” Said Sandoval. Sandoval graduated from CSUB in 2005 after an outstanding career playing in the mid-field for Simon Tobin.

Atlas will also be bringing a U-18 Youth team to scrimmage a Bakersfield All Star Youth team made up of players from the Bakersfield Brigade Youth Soccer Club and Bakersfield Gunners Youth Soccer Club.
