Brigade Player Drafted in 2008 MLS SuperDraft
BAKERSFIELD, CA, January 21, 2008

The Bakersfield Brigade Men’s Premier Development League (PDL) soccer team announced today that 2006 Player Brennon Tennelle was selected 37th overall by Real Salt Lake in Friday’s Major League Soccer’s (MLS) SuperDraft. In total, 39 players of the 56 players drafted had playing experience within the United Soccer League’s (USL) PDL or Super Y leagues.

Taken number one overall by the Kansas City Wizards in the SuperDraft was Defender Chance Myers from the Ventura County Fusion, of the PDL’s Southwest Division. Approximately 13 players drafted were from the Southwest Division. “The entire Brigade organization is very happy for Brennon and his family, as his dream of someday playing in the MLS has come true and for a second straight year, our goal of getting a Brigade player into the MLS has been achieved,” stated Brigade Vice President and General Manager Joe Jimenez. “The fact that 13 players drafted came from within our Division (Southwest) solidifies our Divisions’ strength and the talent level of our players,” added Jimenez.

The Bakersfield Brigade Soccer Club Franchise is a PDL team, playing within the United Soccer Leagues’ PDL Southwest Conference which is made up of ten teams throughout California. League play begins in April and goes through July 2008.
