Brigade Midfielder Alesci Gone for Season with ACL Tear
BAKERSFIELD, CA, July 17, 2007

The Brigade Men’s PDL team have confirmed today that Midfielder Frankie Alesci tore his ACL while playing against the OC Blue Star on July 8th and has since returned home to New York.

 Alesci was recruited from Long Island University (LIU) and as a freshman he led all LIU players in minutes played during the past season. . .

Brigade Prepares for Storm on Saturday

The Bakersfield Brigade Men’s PDL soccer team will be hosting the LA Storm on Saturday at Bakersfield Christian High School. The game begins at 7pm with the pregame beginning at 5. Moi Gomez Named to PDL Team of the Week
BAKERSFIELD, CA, July 5, 2007
The United Soccer Leagues (USL) released the PDL Team of the Week today and Brigade Forward Moi Gomez was one of three Forwards to be recognized mainly due to his 4-goal performance this past Saturday against the Lancaster Rattlers.

 

“We’re all very happy for Moi, he had an outstanding performance and it’s well deserved,” stated Vice President and General Manager Joe Jimenez. “There are 63 teams carrying a maximum of 26 players on the roster and to have been recognized as one of eleven for best performance of the week says a lot about the skills this kid has,” added Jimenez. . .

Brigade Signs Soccer Icon Eric Wynalda for Remainder of 2007 Season
BAKERSFIELD, CA, July 3, 2007

The Brigade have announced today that soccer icon Eric Wynalda has been signed to play with the Brigade for the remainder of the season and will make his debut at their last home game of the season this Saturday against the LA Storm at Bakersfield Christian High School, game time is 7pm.

Brigade Unleash Assault on Rattlers
BAKERSFIELD, CA, July 2, 2007
With a record crowd of 1,675 in attendance, the Bakersfield Brigade PDL fans witnessed a Brigade arsenal that seemed never ending as the Brigade easily handled the Rattlers on Saturday and posted a 6-1 win to stay in the hunt for a potential playoff spot. The Bakersfield Brigade Men’s PDL soccer team will be hosting the Lancaster Rattlers on Saturday at Bakersfield Christian High School. The PDL game begins at 7pm and there will be a pregame beginning at 5, with gates opening at 4:30pm.

Brigade Hits The Road for Weekend Play
BAKERSFIELD, CA, June 14, 2007

After a 3-home game spree, the Bakersfield Brigade (5-4-0) Men’s PDL team will hit the road and head South on Friday to meet the San Fernando Valley Quakes (6-2-2) who are currently sitting alone at the top of the Southwest Division Standings. 

The first place Quakes last played on June 9th where they battled the Orange County Blue Star (0-5-2)  to a 1-1 tie. The Blue Star has yet to post a win this season and came close to earning their first win against the Quakes but had to settle for their 2nd tie of the season, coincidentally both ties were with the Quakes.

Brigade Bounced

The result was one expected when a team of amateurs takes on a group of professionals. When the PDL’s Bakersfield Brigade played the USL First Division’s Portland Timbers, it took all of four minutes for the visitors to take a lead.

But the Brigade continued playing valiantly, and the boys from Bakersfield showed well in a 2-0 loss to the more experienced team in the first round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open on Tuesday at Bakersfield Christian High.

"I think the first 20 minutes we came out a little nervous," Brigade coach Francisco Gomez said. "After that, we saw we could play with those guys."
