Brigade Looks to Handle Rattlers
BAKERSFIELD, CA, May 16, 2007

The Bakersfield Brigade Men’s PDL team will be traveling to Lancaster on Friday to meet the Rattlers in their first face-to-face PDL meeting.

The Lancaster Rattlers PDL Franchise (0-4-0) is new to the PDL and playing in their first season. They play host to the Brigade (2-1-0) on Friday and are looking to end their losing streak. The Rattlers will need to improve play in their backfield to do so, as they currently lead the Division for goals against allowing ten goals thus far in the season.

The Brigade is coming off a 2-1 home loss to the Ventura County Fusion (3-1-0) and will be looking to keep their Lamar Open Cup Tournament qualifying alive, with a win against the Rattlers. In the category “goals against,” the Brigade is currently tied for first as they have only given up two goals this season.

“This game is extremely important to both teams as the Rattlers are looking for the big upset and we are looking to strengthen our position for qualifying into the Open Cup,” stated Brigade General Manager Joe Jimenez. “On paper, we are the stronger team, we just need to prove that on the field on Friday,” added Jimenez.

The Brigade is currently in the top position to qualify for the Lamar Open Cup, but first needs to defeat Lancaster on Friday. Then their final qualifying game will be on Memorial Day (May 28th), as they travel to San Francisco to meet the Bay Seals (1-1-0) for the first time this season. The Seals have yet to play at home and have recorded an away 2-1 win against the Rattlers and have suffered an away 5-2 loss at the hand of the Fresno Fuego (3-1-0).
