The Bakersfield Brigade earned their second win in a row by out shining the Orange County Blue Star 1-0 and have not allowed a goal this season thus far.
For the 2nd straight week, Isreal Cisneros has played big in the net and has kept the Brigade opponents goalless as the Brigade advance to 2-0 in league play. “Isreal had another great game and the defense played strong tonight and kept OC from scoring on us late in the game,” stated Brigade Head Coach Francisco Gomez.
The Brigade scored the only goal of the game in the 40th minute of play when a Brigade player was taken down inside the 18 yard box and was awarded a Penalty Kick. Brigade Midfielder and Head Coach Francisco Gomez took the kick and booted the ball behind the OC Keeper who was already committed going in the opposite direction of the ball.
Late in the match both teams took shots and applied pressure on both keepers but no other point was scored. “This was a really important game for us to win,” stated Brigade General Manager Joe Jimenez. “Our bench is deep and when our subs come in, they are all looking to make big plays and that makes it really exciting to watch,” added Jimenez.
The Brigade will play host to the Ventura County Fusion next Saturday with the game beginning at 7pm. The Brigade has yet to allow a goal and will look for Goal Keeper Isreal Cisneros to keep that streak alive. For more information visit bakersfieldbrigade.com or call 410-KICK.
