Brigade Prepares for OC Blue Star
BAKERSFIELD, CA, May 4, 2007

Coming off an impressive win against “Valley Rival” Fresno Fuego, the Brigade prepares to host the Blue Star from Orange County on Saturday at 7pm at Bakersfield Christian High School.

“The Blue Star is always full of talent and seems to make the playoffs year-after-year,” stated Brigade Head Coach Francisco Gomez. “If we play this Saturday like we did against the Fuego, our fans should again be happy with the end result,” added Gomez.

The Brigade will be adding a few players to the roster this week that they didn’t have last week against the Fuego. Forward Mohammad Mashriqi from long Island University along with Defenders John and Greg Curry will be on hand and ready for action. The Curry brothers are from UC Santa Barbara and are part of the UC Santa Barbara’s Men’s Soccer Team that Championed Division 1 this season. Also joining the Brigade is Midfielder Emanuel Guzman and Defender Tim Brown, both players are part of the Men’s Soccer program at Cal State University Bakersfield.

“We are off to a very good start and with the addition of these players we are only going to get better,” stated Brigade General Manager Joe Jimenez.

The match between the Brigade and Blue Star begins at 7pm with a youth pregame at 5pm. The first 500 fans through the gates receive a Brigade T-shirt sponsored by Marie Calendar’s, Goodwill Industries, ESG Republic and Langston Wayne.
