The Bakersfield Brigade, Bakersfield’s own Premier Development League (PDL) soccer team, announced today their 2007 season with their home game opener against “Central Valley Rival” Fresno Fuego on Saturday April 28, 2007. The match will be held at the Brigade’s home field at Bakersfield Christian High School. Kick off for the game will be at 7:00pm with a youth pre-game soccer match beginning at 5:00pm.
“Playing the Fuego in our first home game is a great opportunity for us to get a win against what I feel is one of the tougher teams within our division,” stated Head Coach Francisco Gomez. “With a win under our belt, confidence will be high and momentum in our favor as we host the Blue Star the following week,” Gomez added.
The Brigade will host their first three matches of their 2007 season against Fresno Fuego (4/28), OC Blue Star (5/5) and Ventura County Fusion (5/12). Their next three games will be on the road against the Lancaster Rattlers (5/18), San Jose Frogs (5/26) and the San Francisco Bay Seals (5/28). The remaining five home games will be played against defending 2006 Division Champions the Southern California Seahorses (6/2), San Jose Frogs (6/9), San Francisco Bay Seals (6/10), Lancaster Rattlers (6/30) and the LA Storm (7/7). “We’re looking forward to another exciting season of soccer at its’ best,” stated Brigade Vice President and General Manger Joe Jimenez. “Our staff has put together some great excitement for the fans to enjoy and our coaching staff is one of the best in the PDL . . . 2007 will be a year to remember,” added Jimenez.
The Bakersfield Brigade Soccer Club, playing within the United Soccer Leagues’ PDL Southwestern Conference is made up of ten teams throughout California.
