The Bakersfield Brigade (www.BakersfieldBrigade.com), Bakersfield’s own Men’s Premier Development League (PDL) soccer team, announced today that the Brigade PDL will conduct an “open tryout” for their upcoming 2007 season on Saturday February 17th from 9am to 12:00 noon at the Kern County Soccer Park (KCSP) located on Alfred Harrell Hwy. Registration will begin immediately at 8:30am. In addition, the Brigade will be hosting an “invitation only” tryout on Sunday February 18th at the KCSP, which will include a selection of Saturday’s participants that have a shot at making the 2007 team.
“Each and every year we will conduct an “open tryout” for our local community, in an effort to provide local players the opportunity to play in the PDL, and ultimately Major League Soccer,” stated Brigade Vice President Joe Jimenez. The 2007 MLS Drafts saw 66 players drafted who either played in the PDL or had some PDL experience, with three of those players coming from the Brigade 2006 squad.
Applications for the Brigade tryouts can be downloaded and printed from the Brigade website at www.bakersfieldbrigade.com. In addition, participants can also RSVP by emailing tryout@bakersfieldbrigade.com. Each participant should bring black and white t-shirts, black shorts, cleats, shinguards and plenty of water to the tryouts.
The Bakersfield Brigade Soccer Club Franchise is a PDL team, playing within the United Soccer Leagues’ PDL Southwestern Conference which is made up of ten teams throughout California. League play begins in April and goes through July 2007.
