The Bakersfield Brigade (3-3-0), Bakersfield’s own Premier Development League (PDL) soccer team, is preparing to take on the Orange County Blue Star (3-2-1) in a crucial midseason match on Saturday, June 10 at 7:00 pm. The game will be held at Bakersfield Christian High School (corner of Stockdale Hwy. and Allen Rd.) and the first 500 fans will be receiving Brigade cowbells sponsored by Soccer Warehouse Plus.

 “This is a team that has always given us problems,” stated Brigade Head Coach Jay Gore. “We are fighting to get into the top half of the table this weekend and cannot settle for anything less than a win,” added Gore. This is the first meeting between the two teams this season. Last year, the Blue Star swept the Brigade in their two meetings and went on to win the division. This year, the Blue Star and the Brigade sit in 5th and 6th place respectively and a win this weekend will catapult either team into the top half of the division standings.

The Brigade kicks-off against the OC Blue Star at Bakersfield Christian High School on Saturday, June 10 at 7:00 pm with a youth pre-game starting at 5:00 pm. The following week on Saturday June 17th, the Brigade will be hosting the Men’s U17 ’90s US National Team at Bakersfield Christian High School at 7:30 pm, with a pregame at 5:30 pm. “The match between us and the US National Team is going to be a great show,” stated Brigade General Manager Joe Jimenez. “These young men train 5 days a week, eat and sleep soccer and are undoubtedly the best our country has at this age,” added Jimenez. This will be the first Bakersfield appearance by a US National Team of this caliber. Tickets are on sale now at both Soccer Warehouse Plus locations, as well as both Chuy’s Restaurant locations. This match is sure to draw a very large crowd so only the first 2000 fans will receive tickets to this event.

The Brigade is a Premier Development League soccer team, playing within the United Soccer Leagues’ PDL Southwestern Division which is made up of nine teams throughout California.
