The Bakersfield Brigade, Bakersfield’s own Premier Development League (PDL) soccer team, announced that they will field a U20 Super Y men’s team for the upcoming 2006 season.  The U20 men’s team will act as a reserve team to the Brigade PDL team.  USL Soccer which is the governing body of the PDL stated that need to bridge the gap for players that are nineteen and twenty years old and are the future PDL players but find themselves with very few options to continue their development.  The U20 season will run concurrently with the Bakersfield Brigade PDL season.

 

“It is a great opportunity to provide an outlet and continued development for players in a competitive environment,” states Joe Montoya, Head Coach for the U20 Super Y Team.  This team will also allow Jay Gore, Brigade Men’s head coach the opportunity to keep players within the program for future looks at the PDL team.  Joe is currently the Technical Director for the Bakersfield Brigade Youth Soccer Program and holds a USSF  National B License.
