BAKERSFIELD, CA, June 1, 2006 – The Bakersfield Brigade (2-2-0), Bakersfield’s own Premier Development League (PDL) soccer team, is set to take on the Southern California Seahorses (4-2-0) for the second time in this young 2006 season.  The Brigade defeated the Seahorses in their first meeting this year, 2-1 at La Mirada High School on May 13th. 

 

“This game is important for us to get back on the right track,” stated Brigade Head Coach Jay Gore.  “We are still in a great position since our division is so well balanced . . . now we just have to find our form at home,” added Gore.  The Brigade are 2-0-0 on the road but have yet to find a way to win at home, as their current record at home is 0-2-0 thus far. “Both games at home this season have been great games with good crowds,” stated Brigade General Manager Joe Jimenez. “Our team is very hungry for a win at home and I truly believe that the fans who come out to Friday’s game will not only see a great game, but will witness our first win at home for this 2006 season,” added Jimenez.

 

Currently the Seahorses are tied for 1st place (with San Francisco) in the division with 12 points. The Seahorses and the SF Bay Seals played each other this past Monday with the Seahorses shutting out the Seals with a 2-0 victory in San Francisco. The Brigade can pull within 3 points of the Seahorses with 2 games in hand, if they can find a way to record a win at home this Friday. Coincidentally, the Brigade’s last game was against the Seals where they recorded a 2-1 loss.

 

The Brigade hosts the Southern California Seahorses at Bakersfield Christian High School (corner of Stockdale Hwy. and Allen Rd.) on Friday, June 2 at 7:00 pm with a youth Pregame starting at 5pm.  The Brigade is a Premier Development League soccer team, playing within the United Soccer Leagues’ PDL Southwestern Division which is made up of nine teams throughout California.  For more information please visit: http://www.BakersfieldBrigade.com
