There’s a Storm coming into town, the LA Storm soccer club that is and they will be traveling into Bakersfield to meet the Brigade this Saturday night at Bakersfield Christian High School for a 7pm soccer match. This will be the Brigade’s home opener and the first 500 fans in the gate will receive a FREE 2006 Brigade Team Poster, sponsored by US Army and ESG Republic. Gates open at 4:30pm with a Youth pregame beginning at 5pm.
The Brigade are 2-0 in league play and well prepared for this Saturday’s game against the LA Storm, a PDL franchise new to the Southwest Division in their inaugural year. This past Saturday the Brigade traveled down south to La Mirada where they faced last year’s 2nd place team, the Southern California Seahorses. The Brigade dominated the entire match but allowed the Seahorses a goal in the 50th minute of play. However, the Brigade fired right back and fired in their own score three minutes later as
Moi Gomez (pictured right)

hit the back of the net on a 35 yard free which tied the game at 1 a piece. Brigade forward
Michael Clegg headed in the next score for the Brigade in the 79th minute of play, as
Brennan Tennelle picked up the assist. The Seahorses had a golden opportunity to tie the game up as Brigade Forward
Javier Cervantes drew a straight red card violation in the 85th minute which forced the Brigade to play a man down for the remaining 5 minutes, with 2 additional minutes for stoppage. However, the Brigade stayed focused and refused to allow the Seahorse a tying goal and earned a 2-1 win on the road.
Playing in their inaugural season, the LA Storm will be put to the test against the Brigade on Saturday. The Storm is currently 1-0-1 in the PDL standings and is coming off of a 4-0 victory over the Fresno Fuego. The Storm is also a new PDL franchise playing their inaugural season in Glendora, CA.
The Brigade is a PDL soccer team, playing within the United Soccer Leagues’ PDL Southwestern Conference which is made up of nine teams throughout California.
