05-02-06Brigade Set to Play Gauchos
BAKERSFIELD, CA, May 2, 2006
The Bakersfield Brigade have announced today that they will be kicking off their 2006 regular season against the San Diego Gauchos this Sunday.  The game will be held at the University of San Diego at 1:30 pm. This match was previously scheduled to take place on Saturday at 7pm. However, due to a last minute field change, the game needed to be moved to Sunday.

“I am excited to get this campaign underway,” stated Brigade Head Coach, Jay Gore.  “We have a good mixture of new talent and returning experience in our team, which will make us very competitive this season,” added Gore.  The Brigade recorded a 2-0-1 record against the Gauchos last season.
“San Diego will be coming out extremely hungry to win this weekend,” stated Jay Gore.  The Gauchos are coming off a 5-2 loss at the hands of the Fresno Fuego, in their season opener this past Saturday.  “The Gauchos are a very talented team going forward and will be looking to bounce back from their result against Fresno.  We will have to manage their threatening attack and take advantage of our chances on the counter attack,” added Gore.

“Our second season is here and we are all excited and ready for it begin,” stated Brigade General Manager Joe Jimenez. “The first game is always nerve-racking but our team is solid and well prepared to go into San Diego and record a win,” added Jimenez

The Brigade is a PDL soccer team, playing within the United Soccer Leagues’ PDL Southwestern Conference which is made up of nine teams throughout California.
